Li Lü

Li Lu was born in April 1966 in Tanghsan in the eastern of China during the China's cultural revolution. At the age of nine months, his parents are sent to labor camps. Moved from one family to another, Li Lu was raised by an illiterate miner.

Tangshan is "sadly" famous for the earthquake in 1976 that killed more than 200,000 dead. Li Lu was then ten years. He survives but sees his adoptive father and many of his relatives died in the rubble.

He turned to education and studied physics at the University of Nanjing. In 1989, he participated in the events of Tiananmen Square.

After suppression of the movement, he has to exile in France before continuing on the road of the "American dream". He studied at Columbia University and graduated with a triple degree in 1996.

After graduation, he worked in an investment bank.

In 1997, he founded his own investment fund, Himalaya Capital Management.

The Wall Street Journal said in August 2010 that Li Lu is tipped to replace Warren Buffett at Berkshire Hathaway head.
