The Joint Ore Reserves Committee (JORC), established in 1971, is a permanent committee responsible for developing and maintaining the JORC Code, a professional code of practice that sets mandatory minimum standards for public reporting of mineral exploration results, mineral resources, and ore reserves. The non-profit company is based in Carlton South, Australia. The code is incorporated into Australian and New Zealand stock exchange listing rules and defines classification systems, disclosure requirements, and qualifications for competent persons who prepare and approve reports. JORC collaborates with regulatory bodies such as the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) and the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), as well as international groups, to align its standards. The committee regularly updates the code through public consultation and stakeholder engagement, with the current edition released in 2012 and a comprehensive revision underway.
