The DeFi blockchain: Avalanche is open-source software that enables the development of decentralized applications with a strong focus on decentralized finance (DeFi). It allows the creation of numerous subnetworks, enabling developers to deploy their own extension environments. The protocol decentralizes all activities deployed on its software while ensuring near-instantaneous transactions. The ecosystem developed by Emin Gun Sirera, associate professor of computer science at Cornell University, and his team at Ava Labs aims to become the internet of finance by single-handedly meeting all blockchain and smart contract needs.

Features

The software has its own token: AVAX. As in many cases, the cryptocurrency is used to pay transaction fees on the network. The software operates using the Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism. Avalanche is composed of numerous blockchains and validators which, thanks to Snow protocols (protocol families), enable transactions on the network to be secured. These transactions are confirmed on the network in less than a second, giving Dapps (decentralized applications) extremely high processing speeds.
