Pharmaceutical giant Novo Nordisk is launching a strategic collaboration with AI firm OpenAI to bolster its research, production, and commercial processes.

The partnership aims to shorten the lead time from drug discovery to patient delivery and is set for a global rollout during 2026.

The collaboration encompasses complex data analysis, the identification of drug candidates, and the streamlining of manufacturing and supply chains. Staff training is also included in the scope. Financial details were not disclosed.

"This partnership is a significant step in positioning Novo Nordisk to lead in the next era of healthcare. There are millions of people living with obesity and diabetes who need treatment options, and we know there are still undiscovered therapies that could transform their lives," says Mike Doustdar, President at Novo Nordisk.

"Integrating AI into our daily operations allows us to analyze datasets at a scale previously impossible, identify patterns we could not see, and test hypotheses faster than ever. This means we can discover new therapies and bring them to market more rapidly than ever before," he continues.
