Novo Nordisk and OpenAI will work together as they seek to harness artificial intelligence to discover new drugs and improve efficiency.
The strategic partnership announced Tuesday will integrate OpenAI's advanced AI capabilities throughout the drugmaker's operations, helping employees to analyze data and identify new drug candidates.
"Integrating AI in our everyday work gives us the ability to analyse datasets at a scale that was previously impossible, identify patterns we could not see, and test hypotheses faster than ever," Novo Nordisk Chief Executive Mike Doustdar said.
"This means discovering new therapies and bringing them to market faster than ever before."
The partnership will also apply OpenAI's capabilities to improve efficiency in manufacturing, supply chain and distribution and corporate operations.
Pilot programs will launch across research and development, manufacturing and commercial operations, with full integration by the end of 2026.
"This collaboration with Novo Nordisk will help them accelerate scientific discovery, run smarter global operations, and redefine the future of patient care," said OpenAI Chief Executive Sam Altman.
Financial terms weren't disclosed.
