Derivatives-exchange company Bitnomial won federal approval to clear swaps backed by full collateral, opening the door for it to launch prediction markets.
The company on Friday said the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission approved Bitnomial Clearinghouse to clear fully-collateralized swaps, which would also allow it to offer clearing services to partner prediction markets across broader categories.
The Chicago company said the approval makes it the only full-service U.S. exchange and clearinghouse offering perpetuals, futures, options, leveraged spot, and now prediction markets under one regulatory framework and unified liquidity pool.
These are different ways to trade or bet on the price or outcome of assets and events, ranging from contracts without expiry to real-world event wagers.
The company said Bitnomial Exchange's prediction market will focus on crypto and economic events granting exposure for its users to outcomes ranging from token price movements to macroeconomic indicators.
