STORY: Airbus lowered its commercial aircraft delivery target for this year on Wednesday (December 3).

The world's largest planemaker blamed a supplier quality issue with fuselage panels on its A320 family of jets.

Affected parts reportedly have the wrong thickness following a process carried out by Seville-based Sofitec Aero.

Reuters first reported the quality problem on Monday (December 1).

It came after an emergency recall of thousands of A320s for a software change over the weekend.

Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury said Tuesday (December 2) the fuselage problem had also hit deliveries in November.

Industry sources told Reuters the firm delivered 72 aircraft that month, fewer than expected.

The recent issues come just months after Airbus' popular A320 overtook the Boeing 737 in October as the most-delivered model in history.

The company had previously expected to deliver around 820 commercial aircraft this year.

But now it's targeting 30 fewer.

Airbus further said Wednesday its financial goals for the year haven't changed.

Its shares rose more than 2% in early trade.
