Mr. Prakhar Bansal, CFA MBA, is an Assistant Vice President & Managing Director of Strategy at The University of Chicago Endowment.
He is focused on the development and management of the overall investment strategy for the endowment.
He joined the Office of Investments in 2003 as the manager of quantitative research to spearhead risk management and asset allocation.
He was manager of absolute return investments from 2006 to 2009 and was promoted to senior portfolio manager for the public markets (global equities and fixed income) and absolute return portfolio, a position he held from 2009 to 2012.
This portfolio’s strategy was featured in an article he co-authored, “A Framework for Manager Selection” for the NMS Exchange.
From 2012 to 2014, he was senior portfolio manager for real assets, responsible for the University’s investments in natural resources and real estate.
Prior to joining the University, he was a senior quantitative analyst with Morningstar; a firm he was with from 1996 to 2003.
He holds an MBA in analytic finance and economics with high honors from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, an MS from The Ohio State University, and B.Tech.
from The Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India.
He is a CFA Charterholder.
